Frequently Asked Questions
Pricing, supplies, keys, pets, cancellations and how the referral agency works.
Every home is different in size, condition and decor, so call for a quote. We recommend working from an "order of importance" list, so the most important tasks are done first. Homes larger than about 2,000 square feet, or a home that has not had a good cleaning in a while, may need extra time; we'll talk through it when you book.
For move-in, move-out and spring cleaning, our cleaner comes equipped for the task. If you have special requirements, have those items ready. For regular maintenance cleaning, your own cleaning products are used unless an additional supplies fee is arranged in advance.
Many clients prefer it because of allergies to unfamiliar chemicals, and you know exactly what is used in your home. Keep the right product for each job on hand, such as a mildew cleaner for the shower, plus a clean vacuum bag, extra belts, trash bags, and somewhere to put scattered toys and clothes.
We encourage you to be home for the very first cleaning, to meet your cleaner and show them where everything is. If that is not possible, use the confirmation call you receive the evening before your appointment to explain what they need to know. A written list of priorities helps, and it can change from visit to visit.
Pets should be introduced on the very first visit, and any unfriendly pets kept outside. For health reasons, our cleaners do not pick up after pets.
We recommend that you do not give your home key directly to our cleaner, to avoid any possible issues. Make your own arrangement for where the key is kept, such as hidden on the property or with a neighbor.
Once one of our cleaners has been assigned to you, we try to keep it consistent. We reserve the right to schedule a replacement if needed, and you have the right to change your cleaner any time by calling the agency.
Your cleaner depends on a certain number of work hours a week for income. If your schedule changes, please let us know 48 hours in advance so we can rebook your appointment. Cancellations also require 48 hours' notice or you will be billed at the quoted rate.
Payment is made at the time of service. We accept cash, Visa and MasterCard, or a check made out to "Maid in America".
